Introducing the Artiphon INSTRUMENT 1


Instrument 1 is a MIDI controller, a tool for generating the standard digital music file. But whereas most MIDI controllers are keyboards hooked up to inscrutable boxes, Instrument 1 is shaped like a purposefully vague string instrument.

Typing notes into software can�t capture the totality of writing and performing music. The physical act of hitting a drum or plucking a string or moving yours hands up and down piano keys, on stage or in a tour bus, is crucial to the experience. Instrument 1 wants to replicate that. Pressure sensitive buttons let you strum, press frets, or even hold the device up on your shoulder like a violin. And if you lay it on a surface, the neck acts as a piano/drum kit.

Global music industry professionals to share insights on indie music opportunities at 2016 Golden Melody Festival

As the Golden Melody Awards & Festival  is just around the corner, music industry professionals are also welcome to join in the festivities as the festival once again invites industry professionals to a three-day conference chock-full of talks on technology, ideas and cross-industry collaboration. The three days of talks will take place between the 22nd and 24th of June, and will be at Taipei�s Humble House. One of the talks will be given on opportunities for Independent (Indie) Music, a sector which has been experiencing much change and potential of late. The festival has brought together five prominent global industry professionals as panelists for this particular talk, including Taiwan�s own Pochang Wu ; founder of iNDIEVOX and lead singer of band ECHO who will be leading the proceedings. Nightmarish Sculptures of H.P. Lovecraft�s Terrifying Cosmic Entities

�Lovecraft Tormented� wall sculpture Like many of you oh-so-cool Dangerous Minds readers I am a collector of a great many THINGS. From records to books and a slew of action figures, my house is a mini-museum full of cool THINGS. I also happen to know that a number of our regular visitors to DM seem to have a thing for anything that associated with the great American horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. Which leads me to my post for today which features a number of intricate sculptures depicting some of Lovecraft�s eldritch entities such as �Dagon,� a creature that first made its appearance in Lovecraft�s short story of the same name from 1917; everyone�s favorite octopus-headed cosmic being, �Cthulhu�; Pickman�s model, and the nutty Nyarlathotep among others.
